Welcome to The Red Lion in Icklingham. A family run, 16th century, thatched and timber framed property that to us is the perfect postcard picture of an English countryside public house.
Our aim here is simple; where possible we make the food that we serve you. We do not buy in readymade microwave meals or frozen desserts that you simply defrost and serve! An aim that our customers must agree with as we are proud to be in the ‘Good Pub Guide 2010’ as a main entry through recommendation by our customers – so thank you from all of us here at The Red Lion if you played a part in the entry to the guide.
We use local wherever possible and prefer food that is in season rather than serving you strawberries in the middle of winter, although with the British weather I guess it is easy to get confused! Our local suppliers know their stuff and we are more than happy to tell you more about them if you’d like to know.
So if you want a drink and a nibble then go ahead, you can even grab a fine cup of espresso coffee, share a bottle of wine with friends or just have a fine pint of well kept cask ale – all the credit has to go to Aileen for how well these are kept, and congratulations on the ‘Cask Marque’, 20/20 six times in a row.
So next time, don’t plough through Icklingham, take time to stop off at The Red Lion; where we hope to see you soon!
